TCC honors Graduates in Virtual Celebration

April 22, 2020

2019-2020 Virtual Graduation image Tallahassee Community College and the TCC Alumni & Friends Association are preparing a special mail package and a celebratory video for more than 3,000 students graduating in the Spring.

The package will include the commencement program and letters from the College’s President, Provost, Vice President of Student Affairs, Student Speaker and the Alumni & Friends Association.

“While we are unable to hold our annual commencement ceremony this year to celebrate the graduates and their family and friends in person, we are no less proud of what they have achieved to reach this important milestone in their lives,” said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of TCC. “I commend the graduates for the time and effort they have put forth as students at TCC. Education requires great persistence, sometimes in the face of great obstacles, so this is the moment to enjoy their achievements.”

Graduates will also find an alumni pin, surprise gifts and an invitation to watch the debut of a special video created to acknowledge their accomplishment on Saturday, May 2, 6:30 p.m. when students were originally scheduled to be at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center for the commencement ceremony. The video can be watched by visiting

“The ceremony allows the College community, the student, and their families and friends a way to celebrate collectively the journey to earning a credential, as it also takes a village to complete a degree,” said Sheri Rowland, Vice President for Student Affairs. “This year in the absence of being able to honor those students through the traditional manner it was important for us to find alternate ways to recognize and congratulate the 2019-2020 graduates.”

The College continues to celebrate graduating TCC Eagles in a virtual world and they are requesting that the community offer words of encouragement or leave an aspiring quote in 30 words or less by visiting

The messages will be used on TCC’s website and social media platforms.
