Job growth and security, stimulating work environments and the opportunity to serve the public are just some of the benefits of a career in Emergency Medical Services. The Paramedic Certificate prepares students to become registered paramedics and safely provide services in emergency situations. Participants will grow personally as they help meet the needs of patients, their families and the community.
The paramedic program offered by TCC consists of classroom work, discussions and demonstrations, as well as laboratory practice, supervised clinical instruction and practice, and supervised on-the-job performance in an intensive care vehicle. The program of instruction in the paramedic courses is a minimum of four semesters, totals approximately 1260 clock hours and awards 42 semester hours of credit. Upon satisfactory completion of the 42 semester hours, the student is eligible to sit for the State examination to become a registered paramedic. Most students can complete the EMS Technology associate degree in less than one year after earning the Paramedic Certificate.
