Frequently Asked Questions

How is attendance checked in an online class?

Your professor will have some type of activity during the first week of class. This will allow instructors to verify your attendance for financial aid disbursements to occur. The number of classes you have attendance verified will reflect your enrollment status.

Does Satisfactory Academic Progress apply to distance learning students?

Satisfactory Academic Progress applies to distance learning students. You should review the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid. The standards for every student are checked at the end of each term. Failure to meet the established standards may result in the cancelation of your aid, even if you have been awarded for that term.

When are the financial aid deadlines and disbursement for online students?

Last Day to Complete a Financial Aid file

Financial aid files, the documentation required to be awarded financial aid which includes the FAFSA, must be completed two weeks prior to the fee payment due date. If you miss this deadline, then be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for classes.

Disbursement for eligible classes of verified attendance will begin no sooner than 21 business days after the start of class. First time borrowers: by Federal regulation, your loan funds cannot be disbursed until 30 days after the start of the term. Visit TCC’s Financial Aid Disbursements Dates webpage for more information.
