Victim Advocate Program
If you or someone you care about has been the victim of a crime you may need to talk with someone confidentially about your options. It is normal to experience a broad range of emotions including fear, confusion, anger, guilt, frustration and a sense of loss.
The primary role of the Victim Advocate is to provide emotional support and assistance to the victim or a witness of a crime. The Victim Advocate provides crisis and short term counseling as well as assistance with any problems victims or witnesses may experience because of the crime itself or as a result of the victimization. The Victim Advocate can assist the victim with impact statements, crime compensation forms, and provide verification of medical, court or administrative appearances to proper faculty and staff. The Victim Advocate maintains detailed confidential records.

What We Offer
The Victim Advocate provides services to any student who is the victim of actual or threatened crime, on or off campus, and even if it happened prior to arriving at TCC, to family and friends of students who are victimized and to any person who is victimized on our campus or by a TCC student or employee.
Advocacy Services, including, but not limited to:
- Emotional Support
- Short-term Crisis Intervention Safety Planning
- Accompaniment through medical and legal process
- Assistance in filing Victim Compensation and other related forms
- Academic support and other letters of support
- Information and Referrals
- Communication with relevant law enforcement and legal personnel

- Presentations and Campus Outreach
Who is Eligible to Receive Services?
You are eligible to receive our services if you are currently enrolled at:
- Tallahassee Community College
- TCC University Partners (including Flagler College, Saint Leo University, and Thomas University)
- TCC Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED)
- Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education
- Florida Public Safety Institute
Educational Materials and Presentations
The Victim Advocate Program provides educational materials and presentations to classrooms, campus organizations and clubs, athletics, TCC faculty/staff departments, etc.

Appointments and Referrals
You can schedule an appointment via phone at (850) 201-6241 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Victim Advocate Program may receive referrals from Law enforcement, TCC Faculty/Staff, and other community partners.

Federal law (Title IX of the Educations Amendments of 1972) requires TCC to ensure an educational environment free from sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. If an employee at TCC becomes aware of an incident, he or she must report to the Title IX Coordinator. The Victim Advocate Program is confidential and is exempt from this reporting but can help you file a report if you choose.
