International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW), November 15-19, 2021, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

The Office of International Student Services at Tallahassee Community College is excited to announce the upcoming events for the 2021 International Education Week celebration.

Virtual Parade of Nations - Monday, Nov 15 @ 1:30pm

This opening ceremony will kick off TCC's week-long celebration of International Education Week. TCC's international students will display their country's flag as their virtual background in Zoom and introducing themselves in their native language. A speech will introduce attendees to IEW and start off the celebrations! Guest speakers and videos will showcase special international programs on campus such as the Global Gateway Program, Study Abroad Programs, the Model UN Program..


Virtual World Tour - Iceland w/ Professor Kupfer - Monday, Nov. 15 @ 3:30pm

Visit the wonderful world of Iceland w/ TCC faculty, Professor Brian Kupfer and / or his study abroad alumni, as they take you on a virtual tour with their study abroad students, to this amazing country. No passport is required!


Virtual World Trivia Night - Tuesday, Nov 16 @ 5pm

Put your international knowledge to the test at the Virtual World Trivia Night! Join the Global Council and International Student Services for trivia and prizes. Topics will span the globe in geography, culture and global affairs.


TCC's 3rd Annual Oxfam inspired Hunger Banquet - Wed, Nov 17 @ 12:30p

We invite you to attend TCC's 3rd annual Oxfam inspired Hunger Banquet during our International Education Week celebration on November 17, from 12:30-2:30 in the Student Union Ballroom!! This is an powerful program to raise awareness about global hunger, poverty, and injustice! Each participant in the event is randomly assigned to play a role of a person at a high, medium, or low income level which means the place where you sit, and the meal that you eat, are determined by the luck of the draw!


Virtual World Chef - Cooking Demonstration w/ FAMU - Wed, Nov 17 @ 12p

Sample the world through a cooking demonstration where international students and staff from FAMU, show attendees how to prepare traditional cuisines from their home countries for lunch. Information about the culture, foods, traditions and country will be presented as well to complement the cooking, where the best kind of conversation is done over a table full of food!


Passport to the World - Thurs, Nov 18 @ 12:30p

This global event returns to the Student Union Ballroom & Atrium on Thursday, November 18th from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Guests may "visit" countries represented in TCC's student population -- Traveling around the globe in learning and talking with international students about their culture, food, traditions, home countries and how they came to be at TCC. Passport representatives will be on-site to hand out passport applications and talk about how to renew or obtain a US passport.


Virtual World Tour - Ghana w/ Professor Agama - Friday, Nov. 19 @ 1pm

Visit the wonderful world of Ghana w/ TCC faculty, Professor Forester Agama and / or his study abroad alumni, as they take you on a virtual tour with their study abroad students, to this amazing country. No passport is required!


International Coffee Hour at FSU - Fri, Nov 19 @ 5

Our final event for 2021 International Education Week celebration is an International Coffee Hour to be held on Friday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. with Florida State University. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with FSU international students and American students who have studied abroad or have an interest in international exchange and other global opportunities.
