Established in March 2016, The Gadsden Center continues the “Partnership for Progress” developed by TCC and Gadsden County over a decade ago. The Gadsden Center reflects TCC’s strong commitment to providing programs and services and a meaningful presence that meets the real needs of the local community.

Programs Offered

Certified Phlebotomy Technician

TCC is excited to offer a Certified Phlebotomy Technician course at the TCC Gadsden Center. This course prepares students to enter the healthcare industry as Certified Phlebotomy Technicians and includes theory and hands-on instruction. Individuals are trained in technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy, including venipuncture and collection of blood specimens required to become a Phlebotomy Technician. For successful course completion, students must complete a minimum of 30 venipuncture and 10 capillary live sticks. Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn a BLS/First Aid Certification and the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). 

Length: 75 hours

Requirements:

Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Course Dates:

  • April 3, 2023 - May 12, 2023 Mondays - Wednesdays 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., plus 4 clinical days 5 hours each

Home Health Aide

The Home Health Aide course at the TCC Gadsden Center prepares students to enter the healthcare industry in an entry-level position as a Home Health Aide. Individuals employed in this field provide routine individualized healthcare to patients who are elderly, recovering from an illness, or have disabilities. They also monitor and report changes in the health status of their patients, and provide personal care and companionship. The program provides students with both classroom and laboratory instruction. Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn a BLS/First Aid Certification and a Certificate of Completion required for employment in a Medicaid facility.

Length: 75 hours

Course Dates: 

8-Week Session

  • January 16, 2023 - March 10, 2023 Mondays and Wednesdays 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturdays 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Course Cost: $550, eligible students can apply for funding through Sunshine Health Scholarship

Integrated Education and Training: GED and ESOL students have the opportunity to earn a Home Health Aide Certificate while completing their course of study.

Nursing Assistant - Long-Term Care

Nursing Assistant - Long-Term Care

The Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care course at the TCC Gadsden Center prepares students to enter the healthcare industry in an entry-level position as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The program provides students with classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. Upon successful completion of the program, students will take the CNA Board Exam. 

Length: 120 hours

Course Dates: April 3, 2023 - May 5, 2023 Mondays - Thursdays 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., plus clinicals

Course Cost: The program is funded for eligible students through the Sunshine Health Scholarship Application

CNA FAQ Spring2023

GED/ESOL Classes

The TCC Gadsden Center offers onsite GED classes and ESOL classes for registered individuals. All prospective GED students must take the TABE test. All prospective ESOL students must take the CASAS test. Classes are held:

GED in Spanish

1:00 pm to 3:30 pm

6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Proctored Testing

The TCC Gadsden Center conveniently offers a variety of testing services.  Testing services include:

  • Online class proctored testing for TCC students
  • Distance Learning testing for students of other universities and colleges
  • PERT Testing for college admissions
  • TABE Testing

The TCC Gadsden Center offers the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). TABE tests can be scheduled Monday - Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  All tests require a minimum of 24 hours of advance scheduling in order to guarantee availability.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Financial aid and scholarships are available for eligible students. Visit the TCC Financial Aid & Scholarship office or access the application for scholarships offered through Tallahassee Community College.

Other payment options may be available to help you in covering the cost of training. 

Services for Job Seekers

The TCC Gadsden Center houses a fully equipped computer lab to connect Gadsden job seekers with the online job search process. Computers can be used to access online applications, develop cover letters and resumes and find out more about training opportunities to advance your career. Staff is available to review your resume and offer tips and suggestions on improving your job search.
