Sunshine Health Works logo, sun rising over an open bookGadsden Connect launched as a pilot project in 2020 and focused on addressing the shortage of healthcare workers by providing full scholarships to Gadsden County residents who met the eligibility criteria. Sixty Gadsden County residents enrolled and completed the program. 

Sunshine Health committed more than $500,000 in 2022 to build on the success of the Gadsden Connect program, expanding services to Leon and Wakulla counties. Read More

Programs of Study

As a result of an expanded focus, the Sunshine Health-Works initiative will increase from two healthcare programs to five programs, including three additional in-demand healthcare programs. Training will be offered in Gadsden, Leon, and Wakulla counties. The current list of programs available includes:

Home Health Aide

Learn How To:

  • Provide routine individualized healthcare
  • Monitor and report changes in the health status of patients
  • Provide personal care to patients (bathing, dressing, and grooming)

Nursing Assistant - Long-Term Care

Learn How To:

  • Prepare for the state nursing assistant competency examination
  • Serve as an entry-level healthcare worker
  • Safely and effectively work as part of a healthcare team

Medical Administrative Specialist

Learn How To:

  • Prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam
  • Prepare for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam
  • Enter the workforce as an information technology assistant, front desk specialist, medical office technologist, or medical administrative specialist

Learn More

Phlebotomy

Learn How To:

  • Study the technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy
  • Earn a BLS/First Aid Certification
  • Become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

Learn How To:

  • Prepare for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses
  • Function effectively and safely in an entry-level registered nursing position
