Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship is a time-tested approach to training and developing skilled labor. By investing in talent development through apprenticeship, employers gain a pipeline of loyal skilled workers and increase productivity. Apprenticeships retain high value on both an economic and individual level; they are excellent for helping businesses grow, engaging employees and nurturing the skilled workforce needed for the future. Tallahassee Community College is proud to partner with Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) to offer a 4-year certification program that includes on-the-job-training (OJT) and classroom instruction for occupations in the electrical industry as well as partnering with Jacksonville Plumbers & Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship & Training Trust (JATT) to offer a 5-year certification program that offers training for plumbers, pipefitters, and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technicians.  The apprenticeship programs lead to certification as a journeyman to meet the workforce needs in the Big Bend Region and throughout the state of Florida. With a growing shortage of qualified workers, it has never been a better time to consider our apprenticeship programs. There are plenty of job opportunities available in these high demand fields right here in Tallahassee.  Our apprenticeship programs combine the OJT and formal technical instruction you need to prepare you for these high-skill, high-demand fields. This means you get paid to work while you go to class, so don't delay and LEARN WHILE YOU EARN!!
