Congratulations to Pensacola Junior College's Whitney Ward, the recipient of the 2008 Jean Williams Award. Whitney, who plays right field for the Pirates, has a 4.0 GPA.

FCCAA Softball Player/Pitcher of the Week
Player of the Week - Laura Meaut, Tallahassee
Tallahassee Community College’s Laura Meaut is this week’s FCCAA Softball Player of the Week. Meaut, a first-year player from Canton, Ga., powered the FCCAA Tournament-bound Eagles to a doubleheader sweep at then-FCCAA No. 7 FCCJ on April 26. She went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and scored three times in TCC’s 7-0, game one victory. In game two’s 8-1 win, she was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a stolen base. Drawing a walk in each game, Meaut reached base six times in nine total plate appearances.
Pitcher of the Week - Elizabeth Milhan, Hillsborough
Hillsborough Community College’s Elizabeth Milhan is this week’s FCCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. Milhan, a sophomore from Seminole, Fla., pitched the Hawks to a pair of wins last week, helping HCC lock up the final berth in the FCCAA/Gulf District Tournament. She beat Polk on April 22, allowing five hits and striking out seven in Hillsborough’s 7-2 win. Then, in the regular season finale on April 24, she one-hit Lake-Sumter as HCC picked up a 10-0, game one win. For the week, Milhan allowed six hits and two earned runs and struck out 11 in 12 innings of work.
