Student Clubs/Student Organizations Council (SOC)
The Student Organization Council meets the first and third Friday of every month at 3:00 PM in the Student Union Ballroom.
The Student Organizations Council (SOC) is the governing body for all student clubs, and is comprised of a member of the Executive Board from each student club. The SOC is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities, registration, funding, programming and leadership development for the betterment of all student clubs at TCC.
The purpose of TCC organizations is to enhance the quality of the student experience through extracurricular and co-curricular involvement in organized activities.
TCC has a variety of student organizations that are sponsored by the college for the growth, development and enjoyment of the students involved. Each organization has a different emphasis, such as service, interest/activity, political, competitive, academic and/or religious in nature. However, they have several things in common, such as funding, open membership, social interaction, leadership opportunities, campus involvement, and institutional involvement.
Research shows that students who are involved in extracurricular activities have a higher GPA, a higher retention rate, and a greater sense of enjoyment during their time in college. They also gain important networking skills and opportunities that dramatically increase the student's options for job and career placement.
There are many options available for your involvement in campus student organizations, so check out the groups already on campus. If you don't see what you're looking for, contact the SOC Chair or the Student Activities Office, and we'll help you start one.
