TCC to participate with community partners in Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Tallahassee, Fla. (January 16, 2014) – On Monday, January 20, TCC will participate in the MLK Day of Service, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the president's national call to service initiative, and calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.

Volunteers will be split into groups and shuttled out to the eight following TCC Community Partner Agencies to complete a variety of service projects:

·         Big Bend Homeless Coalition

·         Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend

·         Capital City Youth Services

·         Capital Region YMCA

·         Children’s Home Society (project at TCC)

·         Elder Care Services

·         Leon County Humane Society

·         Second Harvest of the Big Bend

The agenda for the Day of Service is as follows:

Monday, January 20, 2014

  • 8 – 9 a.m.Free breakfast for volunteers and MLK presentation (at TCC Student Union).         
  • 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Volunteers out serving the community.
  • 1 – 2:30 p.m.Free lunch and t-shirts for volunteers and closing reflection session (at TCC Student Union).
