Accelerated Learning

TCC has many opportunities for students to earn college credits for prior learning.

With valuable prior knowledge and work experience achieved in- and outside of the traditional classroom, students are able to earn college credit that may enable them to shorten their length of study at TCC.

Please explore the options below to determine if they might apply to you and your educational program.

Credit by Exam

TCC grants credit based on a student's performance in nationally recognized programs and examinations like College Board Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP). For more information, click here

Credit for Military Experience

TCC offers credit for military experience. This includes credit for active duty service, as well as credit for classes students have taken through the different military branches. For details on these options, please visit our Veterans Affairs page.

Credit for Work Experience

You may be able to receive college credit for your work and life experiences. This allows you to earn your degrees and credentials faster, as well as learn the value of your experience.

Students must submit a portfolio describing their experience, which will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Examples of possible experiences to consider for this opportunity include:

  • Volunteering
  • Community service
  • Participation in employer-provided training programs

Career Pathways Credit

Career Pathways is a national program that combines secondary education with postsecondary education. Through an articulation agreement with area high schools and TCC, Career Pathways programs allow students to get a head start on their college education.

A series of statewide articulation agreements based on industry credentials ensures a seamless academic transition from high school to college. The articulation agreement allows Career Pathways students to earn college credit in an A.S. degree or certificate program at TCC. Articulation credit is free and is awarded when the student matriculates to TCC. Click here for a complete list of statewide articulation agreements.

TCC has Career Pathways agreements with the following:
