Criminal Justice Technology (Florida Gulf Coast), A.S. (2157)

Florida College/University:
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU)

Program Purpose:
To prepare students to transfer to FGCU’s Bachelor of Science in Criminology program.

Employment Types:
Law Enforcement Officer, Correctional Officer, Juvenile Justice Officer, Public or Private Security Guard, or Detective. With bachelor’s degree graduates may qualify for local, state and federal law enforcement or corrections positions.

Program Length:
64 credit hours, up to 72 credit hours if student earns the A.A. degree at the same time for transfer to FGCU

Admission Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED diploma and meet the required minimum scores on the Florida Postsecondary Education Readiness Test, SAT or ACT (or complete the necessary developmental courses)

Note: Students may earn only one A.S. degree in Criminal Justice Technology. Students should choose either program 2138, 2156 or 2157.

* Students may substitute one of these three-hour courses: CPO2001 , POS1041 , POS1112  or POS2001 .

A - Florida Law Enforcement Academy Credit

B - Florida Corrections Academy Credit

A.A. Degree and Florida Gulf Coast University Bachelor of Science degree transfer option (9 credit hours)

Three additional General Education courses are required:

  • Any additional General Education Humanities  course 3 credit hour(s)
  • Any additional General Education Social Science  course 3 credit hour(s)
  • Any additional General Education Personal Development  course 3 credit hour(s)
