Participating Partners

All of the partners in the GEAR UP program are committed in principle and practice to better preparing Florida's students for postsecondary success. They will provide proven course content that is rigorous and relevant to ensure that students are challenged and become problem solvers.
 
Partners support GEAR UP students by:
  1. Mentoring and tutoring
  2. Catering for special events
  3. Providing school supplies
  4. Sponsoring transportation for cultural events and college tours

The partners have made commitments to assist in the success of FL GEAR UP Program and its 21st Century Scholars.

 

 NEFEC

 

​North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC)

The Consortium is a regional, non-profit, educational service agency established to provide cooperative services to member districts. It exercises no control over its clients, is non-regulatory, and has no taxing authority. Participation in programs and services through the Consortium is completely voluntary. Therefore, the Consortium is designed to be sensitive and responsive to the needs and desires of the school districts being served.

Florida iTunes U service offers an additional way to access the valuable educational content available from Florida's school districts, state agencies, and non-profit organizations. Florida iTunes U brings together teaching, professional development, and cultural resources for educators and students.

The North Florida Research & Education Center (NFREC) is one of the largest and the most diverse units of UF/IFAS, consisting of research and education campuses in Quincy and Marianna, Florida. NFREC has 16 active faculty members representing eight academic departments and the School of Forest Resources and Conservation, three emeritus faculty members, and a dynamic population of post-doctoral associates, and scientific/farm/administrative staff. NFREC-Quincy also is the home to the District Extension Director for Northwest Florida and his staff. This diversity of faculty, staff and programs provides a unique setting for interdisciplinary work within the NFREC campuses, with colleagues on the main UF campus and with faculty at other Centers around the state.

Our College Readiness initiatives promote curricula, assessment tools, district and guidance resources that help K-12 students prepare for the academic rigors of higher education. Through Advanced Placement® college-level courses and exams, high-school students can earn college credit and advanced placement, and learn from some of the most skilled, dedicated and inspiring teachers in the world.

 AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through postsecondary that is designed to increase learning and performance schoolwide. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.
