TCC Cheerleaders

The purpose of the TCC Cheerleaders is to promote and uphold team spirit for, to develop and maintain good sportsmanship by example, and to support teams during games and events. The organizational goal is to work in harmony with the administration, campus life, coaches, sponsors and the athletic boosters.

Season Practice: 

The team practices several nights a week, for at least two hours. Each member is required to attend mandatory workouts that are according to class schedule and coaches' discretion. The coach will establish a practice schedule at the beginning of the season. 




  • Must be a current student at TCC enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Fall 2016 Semester 
    • returning students must meet minimum 2.0 GPA requirement
  • Must be able to practice at least two nights a week, attend all basketball games, charity events, fundraising, and requested campus events.

Complete Tryout Application Packet:

(present the following items at the first night of try-outs)


  • April 18-20 at 6:00pm-9:00pm

All activities will take place in the Lifetime Sports Complex Recreational Gym. 


Throughout the try-out process, everyone is expected to look presentable and "Game Ready'.

  • Females: hair all up or half up half down, with a collegiate style of make-up (no glitter or facial tattoos)
  • Males: hair all up (if long) and clean-shaven
  • plain shorts and t-shirts (no mascots, writing, or logos)

Requirements for Try-outs: 

Participants will be taught new material for try-outs, including a cheer and dance routine, and will be  scored on the following:

  • Cheer: Memory, Quality of Motions, and Vocal Strength
  • Dance: Overall Performance, Quality of Motions, and Rhythm/Timing
  • Jumps: Height, Technique, and Timing
  • Tumbling: Technique, Confidence, and Execution of Required Skills:
    • Standing Back Handspring is required
    • Round off Back Handspring is required
    • Toe-touch Back Handspring
    • More advance tumbling may be shown during an optional tumbling portion and will be considered for bonus points
  • Stunting: Technique, Confidence, and Execution of Required Skills:
    • Extension Full Down
    • Liberty
    • Heel Stretch
    • Arabesque
