Career Pathways

About Career Pathways

The Career Pathways Specialist is available to help students make more informed and better educational and career choices. The aim is for students to be prepared for their transition into the workforce or college after they obtain their high school diplomas. During their enrollment in the Adult Education program, each student has the opportunity to participate in assessments and receive counseling about careers. Additionally, students have the opportunity to develop a personalized career portfolio. Students should be prepared to plan for immediate or future employment from their first day in our program.

The Career Pathway Specialist at TCC also provides the following services:

  • GED Ready Assessment
  • GED Test Scheduling
  • Graduation transition services
  • Assistance with Requesting Accommodations

Integrated Education & Training Program

Don't wait until you finish the GED® or English classes! Why not start a career training program at the same time?

The Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program allows qualified TCC students to concurrently enroll in GED® Prep or Learn English (ESOL) classes at the same time as a Post-Secondary Adult Vocational Certificate (PSAV) Program.

Career Clusters

Every Career, job, and occupation falls into one of 16 career clusters. A career cluster is a group of jobs and industries that are related by skills or products. Within each cluster, there are “pathways” or smaller groups of occupations that share common skills, knowledge, and interests. These pathways allow you to start in a lower-end job and, with more education and experience, move up within that pathway.

Here’s an example:

Cluster:                         Healthcare

Pathway                          HHA—> CNA—> LPN—> Nurse

                                      Dental Assistant—> Dental Hygienist

If you are unsure about the career for you, start here by taking the Career Coach assessment.
