Grant Writing for the Non-Grant Writer

This course provides an overview of the grant-writing process from start to finish. Learn best practices for researching and responding to grant opportunities. Participants will get hands-on experience developing solid grant proposals and reviewing examples of winning and losing proposals.

Instructor: Steven Solomon

Steven Solomon has been writing grants for well over 15 years, and has been awarded over $30 million dollars in grants over his career. Currently, he is the Director of Grants & Special Projects for Tallahassee Community College, where he oversees all grant writing and procurement activities for the College. He has submitted and received numerous grants from local, state, and national foundations, businesses, and government entities. In a previous position as the Executive Director of the Florida Juvenile Justice Foundation, and the External Affairs Administrator for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (FDJJ) he was responsible for grant coordination and management of private technical assistance grants for the Foundation. He oversaw many statewide grant initiatives and conferences, and actively engaged with the business community for grant support and leadership.

Instructor: Amy Bradbury

Amy Bradbury has over twenty years experience in contract management and compliance in public service, quasi-governmental organizations and nonprofits.  Amy is a graduate of Florida State University and received a Masters of Business in Management, Strategy and Leadership from the Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.  Amy has provided consulting services for 7Hills Communications, a public relations firm in Tallahassee, the Florida Hurricane Charley Recovery Fund, Florida Disaster’s Fund and the Governor Christie’s Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.  Amy has been nationally recognized as a trainer for non-profit capacity building and federal grant compliance.  Amy’s experience has been in the role of grantor and grantee for private, corporate, and public funds.  Amy currently provides trainings for nonprofit organizations through the Institute for Nonprofit Innovation and Excellence in Tallahassee.  In addition to consulting, Amy serves as the Director of Contracts and Grants for Tallahassee Community College, a member of the United Way of the Big Bend’s Education Council, Past-Chair of the Sharing Tree, and 2016 Knight Community Creative Institute Catalyst.
