TCC logoTallahassee Community College’s Workforce Division is kicking off Financial Services Training month in July!

Financial services is one of the fastest growing industries in Florida's Big Bend Region, with salaries ranging from $65,000 - $175,000 per year. But the Financial Services industry is strictly regulated and financial services professionals generally must obtain licenses or other credentials to work in the field.

The College’s Workforce Division provides courses that prepare students to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) exam which is the industry standard for financial advisors and the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam which is also required before any additional securities licenses can be achieved.

Additionally, studies show that the CFP credential results in significantly higher earnings, as well as enhanced credibility, improved technical expertise and knowledge (which also leads to better self-confidence as an advisor), and greater client satisfaction with the advisor’s (more comprehensive financial planning) services.

Blockchain is another topic that is increasingly critical in the financial services industry. Financial technology or “fintech” is revolutionizing the financial services, accounting and bookkeeping industries. Professionals in these fields must have a working knowledge of blockchain and what it means for daily operations.

People can remain current by registering for the latest blockchain introductory courses which include:

  • Accounting: Blockchain Applications explore how blockchain technology is radically streamlining the everyday processes of bookkeepers, accountants and financial managers.
  •
  • Cybersecurity: Blockchain Applications detailing the major cybersecurity threat facing businesses every day and how blockchain technology can overcome them.
  •
